Calling all Crafters!
UPDATE: December 2025. The "crafting for good purposes" will finish in February 2026 and members will be asked to bring the items they have made to the February meeting.
SEPTEMBER UPDATE
Name Badges: We have received some lovely positive feedback following the introduction of our name badges, and our appreciation goes out to Margaret for writing our names on them so beautifully.
Crafting for Good Causes: Many thanks to those of you that have already been very busy and donated lots of beautifully made items (see photographs) in support of the appeal for our local hospitals. A selection will be brought along to our October meeting so you can all have a look and hopefully get inspired to join in!
Skill Sharing: Mary G has very kindly offered to share her crochet skills with those of us who would like to learn or improve our skills. If you haven't already done so, please let Jane B know as soon as possible if you would like to join in and we will set up a small, informal get together.
If anyone else is willing to lead a similar get together to share their favourite craft activity please let Jane B know.
CFWI Wall Panel: In July some of our newest members went to an event at Whitefriars House where we saw that in their meeting room they have a large wall hanging made up of individual small panels representing many of the WIs around the region. Having seen that Kelsall wasn't represented, enquiries have been made about how we can remedy this. As enquiries are still ongoing, watch this space, as hopefully we'll soon be reaching out for volunteers to help design and stitch our contribution!
Christmas: A reminder that our November sales table is our Christmas one, so please get busy thinking ahead and putting your talents to good use. Let's all help to make it a great success!
The Christmas Tree Festival is on again this year in the Methodist Church and our WI tree will be themed "Jam and Jerusalem" ! This will involve using lots of mini jam jars (like the ones you get when you go out for a cream tea) and various decorations made out of the sheet music for Jerusalem. Please let Jane B know if you would like to be involved in helping to make the decorations and/or can help with the tree set-up on Thursday 4th December.

CRAFTING FOR GOOD CAUSES!
Could you help by getting out your knitting needles, crochet hooks, sewing machines etc. and crafting something lovely to help our local hospitals?
The Countess of Chester always welcomes donations of hand-crafted items such as Teddy bears and other animals, baby blankets/comforters and hats for premature babies. They also welcome many other items as anything they can't use directly they sell to help raise vital funds.
Leighton hospital is running a knitted hearts campaign whereby they are collecting pairs of knitted hearts that they use in end-of-life care. The patient holds one and their loved one the other and it is meant to be symbolic of their hearts always being together. It's a small gesture that they have found lots of people take comfort from. The hearts can be in any colour, but they do need to be in matching pairs and a maximum of 10 cm x 10 cm.
A selection of patterns is attached to give you inspiration and some will also be available in printed format at our monthly meetings, along with some small quantities of wool to help get you started! If there isn't anything here to inspire you, then many free patterns can be found online (including sites such as Hobbycraft). Also, if anyone has any suitable patterns they would be willing to share or donate, they would be very much appreciated.
If you don't feel you have time to help right now that's fine, we will be running this over the next few months so hopefully there will be plenty of opportunity for you to get involved if you want to!
Completed items can be brought along to any of our monthly meetings and I will collect them. Hopefully in a few months time we will have a lovely collection that we can put on display before they are donated.
Please remember, items don't have to be knitted (except for the hearts) so please put your many talents to good use and let's see how many things we can make! Jane
A note about the files below: On a laptop they will present in the normal way so you can see what they are, but on a phone or tablet it will say your browser doesn't support the files, but there is a place to click where you can then see them.

Jane and Danielle at the Crafters Recycling stall in Big Green Week.
Jane Bryce is our Crafts Coordinator and this new page will be the place for our crafters to find out what is happening, what we're making and how! So to begin, Jane is asking you to think about the
Big Green Week in June.
Jane says: It's time to clear out your craft cupboards and help with our contribution to the Big Green Week in June. And if you have a look at our Monthly Meetings section you will see how we at Kelsall WI responded to the call to reduce waste.
Engaging in creative activities like crafting can have a positive impact on metal health and help promote well-being. So don't delay, start today!
