CFWI Quiz 2018
Monday, February 19 saw 4 members of Kelsall WI join other Federation WI teams to meet up in Tarvin Community Centre for the heats of the Federation quiz. Our team comprised 3 members plus the reserve, who had stepped in due to illness of the 4th member.
When we arrived the room was buzzing with all the other competitors who had arrived super early! The quiz consisted of 8 rounds of 10 questions, on which we were allowed to confer, taking turns to write down our answers. Generally the questions seemed very easy; however, there was usually one in each round, which required some discussion, or we couldn't reach a consensus. At the end of each round our papers were collected then we were given the answers.
After 4 rounds it was time for refreshments after which we continued with the second set. The questions didn't get any harder but there were still a few "tripwires". As a measure of how easy the quiz proved, the winners Mollington and Backford scored 79 out of 80, and no one scored less than 70. We scored 75, putting us in joint 5th place with several other institutes….. definitely an asymmetric distribution!
Sorry we didn’t win but we did our best and enjoyed ourselves.
Thanks to the Sport and Leisure subcommittee for organising the quiz and best of luck to our heat winners in the Final.
