Kelsall WI at the Royal Cheshire Show
This year, Kelsall entered the Combined Class, after a break of a few years .
The overall theme for entries to the competitions in the WI tent was 'The Silver Screen, and the title for the combined class was ' High Society'.
Our entry in this class was based on the film , High Society', and it comprised the staging, a craft item, a cookery item, and one other, which we chose to be a flower arrangement. The four Kelsall WI members involved were Margaret Davies, Heather Leather ,Trish Pollard and Anne Tonge.
We were absolutely delighted when we were awarded First Place. By winning first prize in this class, we were also awarded a silver salver, which added to our excitement.
The first of the following photographs shows our entry after judging .
It was a good day for Margaret, who also won first prize in one of the the art classes , with her watercolour painting of a scene in Venice. Her lovely picture is shown in the second photo, followed by an image of Margaret receiving the silver salver, for the combined class. Note the elegant pinny (!), which Margaret was still wearing following her period of duty in the Hospitality trailer.
