Lino-printing Workshop - February 2018
On Friday 23rd February seven ladies from Kelsall WI set off for Runcorn, and a very inspiring studio, where several artists had a space in which to create jewellery, textiles, photographs, paintings, prints and much more. We were there to learn how to do Lino printing with Cathy Rounthwaite.
We learned how to transfer the images on to the lino, to cut away the negative shapes ......... without gouging our fingers and eventually how to use the press to print our images. We then built up confidence and experimented with different colours and backgrounds until we all had several prints from our original image.
All too soon it was time to clear up; we had been so absorbed that the time had just flown but we left with grand ideas for returning to make our own Christmas cards. WI ladies are so organised!
Many thanks to Cathy who prepared the studio and materials so well, gave us all the knowledge and confidence to produce such successful pieces and made it so enjoyable.
