5th December. As this was the last walk of the year, it was our traditional one from KCC to Rose Farm in Utkinton. We set off from KCC in drizzle, having already left some cars at the Farm for the return trip. There were 10 of us this morning and we set off up the 39 steps towards the woods. Heading down the forestry track in Primrose Wood we could see lots of work going on as huge machines uprooted and stripped the trees in designated areas along the track, then stacking the trunks at the edge ready for collection. We walked right through the Wood until we arrived on Tirley Lane, crossing over to continue along the road towards Utkinton. The views towards Wales were lovely as the sun had now come out, and we continued past the primary school and turned left at the main road to Rose Farm. Here we met up with a couple of friends who were not able to walk today, and we enjoyed a good catch-up over coffee and mince pies.An unexpectedly lovely day for the last walk of 2023.
