September 2015 Newsletter
We continue to celebrate our centenary year.
Thank you to everyone who made our presentation of Inspiring Women such a success at the CFWI 95th birthday celebration at Gawsworth Hall. Lots of people have complemented us on our unique input, they include Francis Woollam (County president) and Jean Harvey (entertainment organiser). The Forest display of banners demonstrated how much talent we have in our area of Cheshire and was a credit to the group.
Kelsall members who attended the CFWI open day at the house of the Bishop of Chester in July enjoyed their visit.
Our thanks go to Marian Nicholas and Heather Leather for leading the August members meeting. The choice of Peter Ashburner from Wright Manley as speaker was inspired. Everyone enjoyed hearing that what we make think is junk could be rather valuable. I wonder how many members went home trying to decide which items were suitable to ‘Flog’.
Sixteen members enjoyed a memorable day out to Llanfair WI museum on August 11th. The coffee stop at the RSPB Nature reserve at Conway was a new experience for many, with a wonderful selection of items in the shop. The Anglesey ladies were very good hosts: we enjoyed a talk, a walk around the museum and lunch. We finished our day with an afternoon visit to Beaumaris. Marian Nicholas and Dot Berry organised the whole day and it ran like clockwork, they even managed to arrange beautiful sunshine. All the participants were very grateful for all their hard work.
If anyone has good photographs of the many events we have enjoyed this year please forward them to the president or secretary, who are compiling our record of ‘Your WI in 2015’
If you think we have had an action packed year so far please note the activities which are being planned for the rest of 2015 and the beginning of 2016.
