Our 80th Birthday Lunch
On Wednesday 24th July 2013, Kelsall W.I. celebrated our 80th birthday with a lunch at Vale Royal Abbey. The lunch was attended by 70 people including members, some husbands, sisters, friends, some past presidents (including Mary Lukins having travelled from York) and honoured guests - Frances Woollam CFWI Chairwoman and Mary Devenport our W.I. advisor.
All those who attended would agree that it was a wonderful celebration. The weather was glorious, as was the venue. Following a celebratory drink, we were welcomed by our president - Pat Symms - who gave a brief resume of the history of Kelsall W.I. There followed a very enjoyable meal after which we were entertained with a talk by Mark Bevan, telling us about the history of Vale Royal Abbey and its link with the Happy Valley set in Kenya. Peggy gave a very entertaining vote of thanks.
Between the meal and the talk, Pat, assisted by Frances, cut the beautifully iced birthday cake, which was served later. Pat had made this cake some few months ago and it had been maturing nicely in preparation for the event. It was delicious!!
This lovely event was due to the excellent organisation of our President Pat and Secretary Margaret with the help of Heather and Dot who did an excellent job of the seating plan. Many thanks are also due to Jill who prepared our lovely table cards, and the flowers organised by Barbara and her team were beautiful. Everyone received what they had ordered and the staff were very attentive.
Many thanks are due to all the committee for their efforts - members of the committee were very gratified when Ann Tindall gave an impromptu vote of thanks on behalf of members on the day.
This is only a brief report - the photos (in the Gallery) speak for themselves. More photos will be uploaded as they are received.
